2020 Memorial Weekend Alternate Itinerary

Below is the schedule for pipe band Memorial Weekend activities due to Covid-19.  This page will be updated as logistics are confirmed and times can change. Notifications will be sent out for updates to this page so please make sure you are subscribed to the website (on home page at top) and on Facebook group. 

REMINDER - IF YOU ARE NOT UP ON ALL OF THE MEMORIAL WEEKEND TUNES, PLEASE STAND DOWN THIS YEAR, GET THEM DOWN AND WE WILL SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!

PLEASE HAVE A MASK WITH YOU AT ALL TIMES AND FOLLOW ANY DIRECTION GIVEN ABOUT WEARING THEM.

Friday, October 2nd - Quality Inn, 380 Steinwehr Avenue, Gettysburg, PA 17325 
1700-2100hrs - Pipe Band meet and greet at Quality Inn,
Band members are invited to come enjoy some brother/sisterhood at the annual meet and greet.
NO INSTRUMENTS!

Saturday, October 3rd - Gettysburg Fire Department, 
35 N Stratton Street, Gettysburg, PA 17325
1000hrs - Massed band rehearsal to go over all tunes.
  • Inclement weather plan is to go inside the fire department engine bay.
  • Please park so the parking lot is not blocked. Car pooling is encouraged.
Between 1800-1900hrs - For those interested, a massed band performance OUTSIDE of the Ott House in downtown Emmitsburg.  Final information will be given out at morning rehearsal.  Logistics are still being confirmed but the band will circle up and play some sets outside.  
  • Meet by 1800.
  • There is NO uniform requirement for this other than to look respectable.  The recommended uniform for this is Class C polo.  
  • There is a chance the band marches down the street from the alley next to the Emmittsburg firehouse.  
  • Everyone is welcome to go inside afterwards and support this great establishment who has supported NFFFM and our band over the years following state COVID guidelines.
Sunday, October 4th - Memorial Weekend Massed Band Performance at:

Uniform - Class B Long Sleeve. If no long sleeve doublet without plaid

0830hrs - Report and tuning to rear field next to National Fallen FF Memorial/National Emergency Training Center.
  • Please park in the rear parking lot of the Shrine property or along the side of the rear road.  You must leave the road open for vehicle traffic.
0930hrs SHARP! - Massed band will circle-up and play through ALL memorial and candlelight sets/tunes with goal of being finished by 1000hrs when virtual National Fallen Firefighters Memorial begins.

1030hrs - Band must be off site to facilitate weekly Basilica morning mass
