Memorial Weekend Update 4-9-2024

Good day Pipers and Drummer.

Memorial Weekend is fast approaching and we wanted to send out a brief update. If you or your band members have not registered yet, you have until 4/19 to do so. Here is the link:
We continue to be time compressed more than ever this year as we have a lot of fallen to honor and a large amount of families coming. More information will be sent out once registration closes but here are the band leaderships most important items.
We honor the fallen with our ability to play the music properly and a well maintained instrument. Everyone should be proficient with the tune sets and settings while continuing to work on them. This event is not for anyone that is not up on their ability to play the designated tunes/sets, has corked drones or cannot play their instrument as it was designed, cannot march with a group and lastly cannot take direction from a supervisor. The band officers have the final say and we work with folks to get them squared away year in and year out for game day. However, if you don’t meet the standard we are looking for in honoring our fallen, you will be asked to step down and either fall in with the sea of blue or not participate. The expectation is that you come ready as we don’t have the time to work with everyone that has issues as in the past.
NOVA Pipes and Drums will be hosting their piping workshop on Friday afternoon to help get any issues fixed. This will occur from 1400-1700 at the Quality Inn Gettysburg. We thank our brothers and sisters from NOVA for recognizing this need and the great help it has provided. The flyer is attached below and also on the group Facebook site if you are on there.
Credentialing will be at Ski Liberty again and rain contingency will be Mount St Mary’s. Band leadership will advise on any changes.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone in a month and honoring our fallen the way we know how. Stay safe and reach out with any questions.
Stay safe, ~ Band Leadership
